Reflecting on Your Wells of Well-Being

Hello everyone,

As a therapist, I often talk about the importance of maintaining our wells of well-being—physical, emotional, social, financial, purposeful, and creative. Sometimes, life gets busy, and we might neglect one or more of these essential aspects. Today, I’d like to invite you to take a moment and reflect on how you’re nurturing each of these wells.

Wondering what the wells of well-being are? See our blog on Why the Wells of Well-Being are Important for more details.

Are You Neglecting Any Wells of Well-Being?

  1. Physical Well-Being: Have you been feeling extra tired or physically uncomfortable lately? When was the last time you did something active that you truly enjoy? Maybe it’s time to revisit that.
  2. Emotional Well-Being: Do you often feel like your emotions are too much to handle or that you’re keeping them bottled up? Think about the last time you took a moment just to process and reflect on how you’re feeling.
  3. Social Well-Being: Are you feeling a bit isolated or disconnected from those around you? When did you last have a meaningful chat with a friend or family member? It might be a good time to reach out.
  4. Financial Well-Being: Are financial worries frequently on your mind? Have you looked over your budget or financial plan recently to ensure it still fits your needs? It’s important to feel secure in this area.
  5. Purposeful Well-Being: Do you sometimes feel like you’re just drifting through your days without much direction? Think about the activities that align with your values and passions—are you engaging in them?
  6. Creative Well-Being: When was the last time you allowed yourself to be creative, whether through art, writing, music, or another outlet? Creativity can be incredibly fulfilling and healing.

Celebrating and Nurturing Your Wells of Well-Being

  1. Physical Well-Being: What physical activities leave you feeling energized and healthy? How can you make time for these activities more regularly?
  2. Emotional Well-Being: What helps you manage and understand your emotions? Whether it’s journaling, meditation, or talking to someone, think about how you can incorporate these practices into your routine.
  3. Social Well-Being: Who are the supportive and uplifting people in your life? How can you spend more quality time with them and strengthen these connections?
  4. Financial Well-Being: What financial habits or strategies have you found helpful? Reflect on how you can continue these practices to maintain a sense of financial stability.
  5. Purposeful Well-Being: What goals or activities give your life meaning and fulfilment? How can you make sure you’re regularly engaging in these pursuits?
  6. Creative Well-Being: What creative activities bring you joy and satisfaction? Consider how you can carve out more time for these activities in your week.

Maintaining Your Wells During Stressful Times

It’s especially important to maintain our wells of well-being during stressful periods in our lives. When we’re under stress, it’s easy to neglect these essential areas, but this is precisely when we need to engage with them the most. Upping our engagement with each well can provide the support and balance we need to navigate through challenging times, helping us to stay grounded and resilient.

Taking the time to reflect on these questions can help you identify which wells might need a little more attention and which ones you’re already nurturing well. Remember, it’s all about balance and finding ways to support your overall well-being.
